A hotelier family lives their dream

The Akzent Hotel Löwen stands on a historic site. Right here, in the heart of Langenargen directly on the gondola harbour, a restaurant was built at the end of the 19th century. This building also bore the lion in its coat of arms. It is easy to imagine how guests once sat here, dreamily gazing out over the lake, following the sailors as they sailed towards Switzerland to pick up new cargo. By the end of the 1970s, the former splendour of the Langenargener Löwen had faded and the lawyer Heinrich Schwörer took over the property. In this unique location, the committed lawyer decided to revitalise the historic Löwen. In 1984, the time had come: the new Löwen hotel and restaurant was opened.

Your passionate hosts

It was at this time that Reinhold Buck and his wife Hildegard decided to finally take the plunge into self-employment. He, a trained chef and hotel manager, and she, a trained housekeeper, had dreamed of having their own restaurant since their youth. The two of them come from the Swabian Alb, travelled for many years, worked in various restaurants and finally in Lindau. So they were already familiar with Langenargen and Lake Constance, and when the opportunity arose in 1988, the two of them initially took over the Löwen restaurant.

Their courage was rewarded and the restaurant developed splendidly. In 1997, the Buck family, now three in number with daughter Stefanie, acquired the entire ensemble and took over the management of the hotel. Since then, the hosts have been successfully continuing the history of the traditional hotel directly on Langenargen harbour.

Stefanie Menzi-Buck is now part of the management team. After leaving school, Stefanie initially trained as a restaurant specialist in a 5-star hotel in the Black Forest. She then went on to work in various establishments before adding a degree and completing a bachelor's degree in business administration specialising in hotel and catering management at the Cooperative State University in Ravensburg. With this training and her hospitality gene, she is ideally prepared to manage the family business Akzent Hotel Löwen, now in its second generation.
