- Salem Monkey Mountain
- Eriskircher Ried
- Friedrichshafen with Zeppelin and Dornier Museum
- Council city of Constance
- Reichenau Island
The harbour lion of Lindau
Simply take the boat - board at the landing stage at the harbour directly opposite our hotel. This way you can easily reach the picturesque Lindau Island, synonymous with Bavarian serenity and stylish elegance. You can't miss the famous lion and the lighthouse at the harbour entrance.
Bregenz - cultural stronghold and gateway to the Lake Constance mountain world
The next stop: Bregenz, the provincial capital of Vorarlberg, a centre of leisure, shopping and culture. Here you will find the legendary festival theatre and the Kunsthaus, designed by the renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. Bregenz is also the ideal starting point for excursions to the Pfänder, the panoramic mountain overlooking Lake Constance with its eagle observatory and alpine wildlife park, and to the Bregenzerwald, where tranquil villages and cheese dairies beckon.
Friedrichshafen, home of the Zeppelin
In the other direction along the shores of Lake Constance, the Zeppelin city of Friedrichshafen awaits you, which pays homage to two of its famous sons with a museum: the Zeppelin Museum in the city centre and the Dornier Museum directly at the airport, both of which are well worth a visit. Opposite is the huge Zeppelin hangar, home to the Zeppelin shipyard and Zeppelin shipping company as well as the take-off and landing site for modern Zeppelins. A zeppelin flight is unique and unforgettable, we promise!
By catamaran to Constance and the flower island of Mainau
Continue by catamaran from the harbour to Constance with its historic city centre and the impressive cathedral with its sacred architecture. From here you can also reach the flower island of Mainau, which delights visitors with the colourful splendour of its rich flora, or Reichenau in Untersee, famous far and wide for its monastery and vegetable gardens.
Meersburg Palace and Castle - at the deathbed of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff
Or you can stay on the north bank and only get off again in Meersburg, which impresses with its medieval town centre or the majestic Meersburg Castle. Don't forget to visit the castle with its fortifications and dungeon. Not only real knights once lived here. Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, a German writer and composer and one of the most important German-language poets of the 19th century, also lived - and died - here.
Pfahlbaumuseum Unteruhldingen - where the way of life of our ancestors comes to life
If you continue on your way towards Lake Überlingen, you should definitely make a stopover in Unteruhldingen. The pile-dwelling museum there houses archaeological finds and currently 23 replicas of pile dwellings from the Stone and Bronze Ages. The way of life of our ancestors comes to life here.
Birnau Basilica - Rococo splendour high above the lake
Just a few kilometres from Uhldingen-Mühlhofen, the church of St. Mary, known as the 'Basilica of Birnau', towers high above the lakeshore. The Roman Catholic basilica is one of the most important Baroque pilgrimage churches in the region, also known for its exuberant Rococo splendour and lavish ceiling paintings.
Überlingen - a town with Mediterranean flair
Überlingen is the second largest town in the Lake Constance district. The former imperial city is characterised by a well-preserved medieval town centre with a cathedral, town hall and fortifications, including the Gothic Franciscan gate from the 12th and 13th centuries. The combination of a lively town history with the Mediterranean flair of the promenade is what makes Überlingen so charming.
Trips to neighbouring countries
Langenargen is located in the heart of the Euregio Lake Constance. Excursions to the neighbouring countries of Austria and, of course, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are therefore a must. For example, Switzerland's local mountain, Säntis, attracts visitors with its spectacular mountain railway and - in good weather conditions - a gigantic panoramic view of the lake, Appenzellerland, Italy and even France.
Recreation around Langenargen
Of course, you don't need to wander far afield when the good things around Langenargen are so close by. For example, we recommend a leisurely evening stroll along Langenargen's waterfront promenade, right on our doorstep, through the floral splendour of the waterfront park past the harbour and over to Langenargen Castle Park. Here stands Montfort Castle, built in 1866 in Moorish style and a magnificent landmark of Langenargen.
